What's the point of strangling a fish? Once you take it out of the water it can't breath anyway.
If the fish was so big you couldn't take it out of the water, strangling still wouldn't help. Fish breathe through their gills, not their throats. I guess you could cover the gills but that might be hard for such a large fish.
