Saying Evangelion is deep is like saying FFX or VII has a good plot. Everything the show does right, that is huge robots destroying everything, is ruined in every episode by 15 minutes of filler that's pseudo-philosiphy and psrudo-psychology that seems to have been written by a ten year old.
Seriously internal monologues (that don't make sense) in anything don't make it deep.
Fuck if that was the case every fucking anime and manga would be a fucking masterpiece. It doesn't help that in eva's case those internal monologues are being repeated every episide on top of them being nothing good to begin with "my life suck I should die... But I can't do that I have to live! Damn it's no use my life sucks". And on and on and on. After 500th time you just want to shove a rabid racoon up his ass so he'll finally die in a painfull way.
It's not deep psychology it's repetitive whining that pisses you off.
