It's neither apparently...well the manga says it's an M1A1 SA. Stucked in semi auto. idk about animu and what they really drew.

The M14, M21, and M1A are all pretty much the same thing.

M14 is the US Military designation.

M21 is an M14 fine tuned for precision shooting.

M1A "SA" is a copy produced by Springfield Armory for civilian use.

They're all the same gun with interchangeable parts, just different names.
