I also have no objection with removing the slang tag.

Pardon, but what does the "rough" (gelbooru.com/index.php?page=post&s=list&tags=rough) tag signify? It would be either "sketch" or "poorly_drawn", no?

Also, I don't want to make anyone angry, but how come Gelbooru uses the "pussy" tag for any vulva, the word "ball" in testicle-related tags ("ball_caress"), and "cum" for semen?
We have other non-slang, even "scientific" tags such as
"large_breasts" (not "large_tits" or "large_boobs"),
"erect_penis" (not "boner", "erect_cock" or "erect_dick"),
"erect_nipples",
"areola_slip",
"fellatio" (not "cock_sucking" or "blowjob"),
"irrumatio" (not "facefucking", "mouthfucking", or "throatfucking"),
"cunnilingus" (not "pussy_eating" or "pussy_licking"),
"tribadism" (not "scissoring"),
also "vaginal", "anal" and "oral" for sex, "anus" and "cervix" for certain anatomical features.
Yet, interestingly enough, we ditch any medical, non-slang names for the vulva/vagina itself, and call it "pussy". Same with semen and related tags, like "cum" itself, "cum_on_body", "cum_drip", "cum_pool", "cum_explosion" etc. The "ball_caress" tag is a small offender compared to the aforemented ones.

What is this weird tagging dichotomy?

Rough... gelbooru.com/index.php?page=wiki&s=view&id=9617

As for pussy, it goes back to the origins of Danbooru many years ago before most of our current tagging policies where implemented. It was too entrenched to be easily changed without every up-loader being told to change their tagging habits. We still use it because most of our posts are auto-uploaded from Danbooru.

That sounded like a fun explanation. Old traditions are hard to change indeed. And damn I forgot to check the wiki for rough, I tend to consult it, although a lot of times there are no articles unfortunately.

Not sure if this is the right place to mention this, but if we have "butt_plug", then "buttplug_tail" should be "butt_plug_tail". Or "butt_plug" needs to be changed to "buttplug" for consistency. Not much of a tagging inconvienance, butt still... (Funny thing we have an "ass" tag, not a "butt" one.)

As for rough, I just made that wiki after I read your comment.

butt_plug_tail is the tag that should be used.

Edit: We have aliased butt_plug_tail to buttplug_tail for some reason. Danbo uses butt_plug_tail but we apparently use buttplug_tail.

...aaand I wondered about this for a while, what about smiley tags on Gelbooru? I find them useful, but I don't know what smileys should I tag with. For example, :) seem like redundant with the smile tag, but we have a lot of ^_^ [usually implicate the same expression as :)] and even more of :d and :p, with the former being somewhat redundant with open_mouth and the latter with tongue_out. And there are :3 and >:3, which are really popular. The plain old :) :( :s :o :| :/ smileys are rarely tagged. Oh, also, we have stuff like >_< and =_=...

Unfortunately, reversing aliases isn't something that can just be done at the drop of a hat. We have quite a few tags that have been aliased like this. This is the main reason why we mass edit instead of actually applying aliases. Reversing a mass edit takes a bit of time, but it doesn't have the potential to break the site like reversing an alias does.

As for smilies, they should only be used when there is no simple wording for the equivalent. A smile can be tagged "smile", but a "^_^" is very specifically "closed eyes with an upward peak". A tag like "closed_eyes_with_an_upward_peak" would be ridiculously difficult to remember, so ^_^ is a good substitute. The same is true for quite a few smilies. For example, ":(" isn't used, since you can just use "frown", but ":<" is used, since otherwise you'd have to make up something like "upside_down_v_frown" or "caret_frown", both of which would be difficult to remember and use. ":<" does quite a good job, since it's easy to remember, and it's both accurate and self-descriptive.

I've been working on this. It may be a while before I have all these wikis updated.

Any objections to an 'object_head' tag?

It has it's own tag on pixiv (異形頭) and we already have several images that could fit under it

post #469277, post #1743157, post #1464119 post #761180 and so on.

The lack of tag makes them hard to find, but we have more than a few and if 'dickhead' can become a tag, I don't see why this one can't.
