I've been a climber for much of my youth. While I didn't have any particular trouble, the most dangerous thing I ever did was free climb the east rim of the Grand Canyon. I was far from the first as I found some centuries-old native paintings on the cliff face some 600 feet up. I could never do that today, I'm not the young fool I once was.
It's just Montréal, though. Nobody's getting shot in Québec City. Normally.
Why not move to somewhere peaceful?

Jesus. What did you do to him? :P
The closest I've come to death is when my drunk uncle threw himself face down off a high balcony, but me and some guy grabbed each legs and got pulled down by him. Nobody got hurt or killed.

I've told the story on here before. But I'll tell it again for fun. Blog time:
When I was a child, around 10 or 11, my mom's boyfriend at the time was in a bitter custody battle with his ex-wife and wrote a somewhat threatening letter to the judge involved who presided over the case out of state where the wife lived. Which boyfriend thought was a bit unfair... perhaps it was a bit.
So turns out this is a federal offense so the FBI came knocking. I was alone in the house I think, and kept hearing loud knocking on the front door and a guy shouting "FBI!" over and over.
He sounded (and looked) like a black work buddy of the boyfriend so I thought it was just that dude fucking around, as he did pranks like this all the time, and I obviously didn't know anything about the judge and the letters. Nope... actual FBI agents. Three of them. I had guns aimed at me simply because I opened the door. They'd have probably done it to anyone.
Boyfriend got arrested... mom was kind of indifferent to the whole thing. Though she wasn't pleased with the agents treatment of me, and even smack talked the the black agent with some low-key racism. To be fair, the black agent was the biggest douche of the three agents and started it.

Texas in general doesn't care for FBI too much. Aside from the cliche local vs federal thing that Texas is already famous for, when it comes to the FBI, Waco kind of turned into a new Alamo rallying cry against the US government. Even though it was before my time, I still couldn't avoid hearing about it. We blame the FBI regardless of how fair or incorrect it is to do so.
