some artists identify their newhalf images as futanari, example of this is the famous artist [[jinjin]], example post #8286. should these be changed to newhalf too?

Our images are tagged based on what can be seen in the image. In cases like post #8286, where you can plainly see that the character in question doesn't have a vagina, it doesn't matter what the artist says or thinks. It should be tagged "newhalf".

Artist descriptions and post pages can be used to identify which tag should be used in the case that direct visual evidence isn't there, but what can actually be seen in the image trumps all.

how about futanari derived tags like futa_with_male and futa_with_female? should those get changed to newhalf_with_female and newhalf_with_male? or just drop them?

also as an off-topic question, androgynous doesn't apply to newhalfs, right?

For all purposes other than the "futanari" and "newhalf" tags themselves, newhalf is treated as if it's futa, so futa_with_* should still be used.

"newhalf" and "futanari" are considered to be their own respective genders, so they aren't considered androgynous. In fact, they have very strong traits of their own respective genders.

Futanari does have the theoretical case where there is an actual true androgynous character, where a character has absolutely no secondary sexual characteristics which imply any gender, and they have both sets of genitals. I can see this being androgynous, but at the same time, it'd be extremely hard to find an image like this. Newhalf doesn't have the same situation, though; in order to quality as "newhalf", a character must appear female. If they appear androgynous and have (only) a dick, they're going to be considered male.

OK here rises one more question. are you implying that we shouldn't tag (for example) a solo futanari image as "1girl" or a solo newhalf image as "1boy"?

for me, I dont feel like putting these "x girls" and "x boys" on images which are newhalf and futanari. what do you think?

Futanari and newhalf are generally considered female for those counters, because that's what their outward appearance leads to.

Since futanari is broadly defined as anything with both a penis and a vagina, cuntboys are also considered to be futanari. These would be counted towards the male counter.

btw, looks like some of these images (which have been tagged futanari falsely and they clearly newhalf) have been overlooked by mods, despite them editing futanari related tags in the same images.
was there any reason to this?

When we changed all of the futa_on_* and *_on_futa tags into futa_with_*, we used a mass tagging tool to do it quickly. While the mass tagging tool does the job exactly the same way as doing it by hand, it does so automatically without our input, so we wouldn't have looked at any of the images that were affected.

I see. it is all clear now, so I assume yaoi applies to those samples?
