Can we just ban pony content?
Posted on: 01/30/16 11:14AM

So i just recently clicked through all the new posts on my beloved gelbooru and saw this low ass quality content like this for example
gelbooru.com/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=3035604
And so much more pony pictures got uploaded in the last days and im just wondering why we allow that here. I mean there are sites for that pony porn stuff like R34 and this e621 why does this have to be here? I want to see some nice japanese artists and maybe some good other stuff but not this furry shit.
Can someone explain to me why this is a thing and why its good to KEEP THAT stuff?
Thanks.

oh and no i wont just put it all on my blacklist because i think this just shouldnt be here.

In other words, just because you don't like something, you think it should be removed from the site?

We aren't going to cherrypick artwork based on what series it is from.

To be clear, the vast majority of MLP artwork is against Gelbooru's Terms of Service. Artwork must have been drawn by a Japanese artist or based on a Japanese copyright to be allowed. This means that, with very few exceptions, all MLP artwork by non-Japanese artists is already against Gelbooru's rules. On the other hand, it also means that if the piece was drawn by a Japanese artist, it's going to stay unless it was drawn poorly or violates other terms.

Why, then, do you see MLP artwork by non-Japanese artists on the site? Because it slipped past us and hasn't been flagged yet. If we don't see an image in the 30-minute timespan between it being uploaded and falling off the front page, and we don't see it in the 45-minute interval after being commented on before it falls off the comment page, chances are we're just flat out not going to see it.

What I'm saying is, if you're finding a lot of MLP images drawn by non-Japanese artists, you should flag them, because otherwise we probably aren't even aware of them.

If it is by a Japanese artist and is of good quality then it is allowed the same as any other copyright.

If it is not by a Japanese artist and not a good quality anime-style (if that is even a thing for MLP) then flag it for deletion.

If I remember correctly, MLP has its own booru for itself alone, so maybe compartmentalization of boorus would be something of use. Won't work without anything listing the different boorus out there though.
