I attempted to access the api today and i got the error ""API temporarily disabled", what happened?

Someone using a bot to scrape the site managed to make enough search queries to bring the search system down, so we've disabled the API temporarily until we have solution.

I don't, but Lozer might. Sounded like it was performing tons of tag searches.
