It's not entirely random, the whole reason behind it is because when he was fading away, he was talking about how he was beginning to understand humans and he reached out for her. It's still a pretty stupid pairing though.

Actually, Kubo favored this pairing a lot. He wrote Ulquiorra as an incredible character to be with Orihime, or at least for them to have a curious relationship. shit, Ulquiorra's Character Poem is all about how he longs for Orihime, and when the dies, they even have a touching moment, there was a SHIT ton going on here.

He was emotionless and was entranced by the idea of emotions, and emotions 'come from the heart' and Inoue had the only heart there (everyone else were hollows) so he was interested in her heart. Ulquiorra is not reincarnated, but I will tell you this Grimjow is back and I knew he wasn't dead lol people thought he was finish but they didn't pay close attention.

But any who this pairing is annoying there's no feeling between Orihime and Ulquiorra there's nothing going on seriously whatever you got your facts and Im surely don't think Kubo has favorites of any pairing. All you need to know is that Kubo likes all the characters there's no who's Kubo favorite they aren't allow to answer that.
