actually all Digimon are supposed to be genderless, and this comes from the writer of the Tamer series. The studio however went against their own concept since many of the digimon either acted like males or females, which contradicted their own idea of the digimon being genderless.

also, Renamon's digivolve forms are all quite feminine.

@Daijin I remember someone from the studio saying digimon are genderless way back in Adventures. Well lots of digimon even look femsle or male, I guess they were just trying to keep the porn as low as possible with that statement. Personally I always thought the partner digimon just act more in accordance with the gender of their human partner (a great example is in Tri when the girls go out).

@anon 1207188 Ruki was 13 at the beginning of Tamers, the characters became gradually older as the original target group grew up (in Savers they're almost adults and the art style fits too, they only went back in X-wars or what's the name)
