The character Nel from Star Ocean Till the End of Time one of the most useless characters to anything but the plot of the game. still she could use some serious undressing in this one

She's not so useless if you know how to properly spend points on her abilities... Otherwise, yeah, she's kinduva talc popgun, breaks easily to no real effect.

Actually, the 2 most useless characters were Roger and Pepitta, both story- and gameplay-wise, their design and personality.
Nel was hot, cool and actually playable. Most importantly hot.

I'm sure she's very useful, but I don't have fun playing as her specifically. Her fighting style is too strange and it takes too long to kill strong enemies as her if you're going it alone { for battle trophies, specifically }. I guess it's just easier for me to get things done with a versatile and speedy fighting style like Fayt's, or the high-combo potential that Cliff or Mirage can dish out. Nel is much slower with her basic/strong attacks as well, which can matter if trophies are the current goal.

Perhaps it would be better if there were a spin-off game featuring herself, Tynave, Farleen, and Clair as playable characters, maybe one that utilizes a degree of stealth gameplay { but not to where it's overdone and obnoxious } and has a similarly fun battle system { shots fired at The Last Hope }. Granted, we'd want the character designs to be high-def without being changed.
