If you read corporate emails, notes and newspapers throughout the game and really try to figure out whats going on, it becomes quite obvious by that point Tai Yong Medical is involved in the conspiracy and is preparing a huge machination with their chips.
That mass malfunction was so suspicious, I firmly refused to change my hardware.

That allowed me to rape this poor merc later.

There's a bug in the original version of the game thanks to which, with the right timing, you can takedown Namir with a single punch. His boss room is creepy as hell though.

This post is late coming, but you can actually figure out the scheme long before the fight, the intro has Bob Page and the Illuminati talking about it. Having the frequency and satellites ready, "a few weeks of discomfort", how they have control of the medical clinics' wallets, etc.

i stole a turret, hacked it to my side, and took it down the elevator with me. then i just set it down at the middle of the top of the stairs and it turned him into swiss cheese. highest difficulty, pacifist run.
