Samus + C. Falcon = Good Friends / Bounty Hunters

Snake + Samus = Snake has unrequited love for Samus

Ike + Samus = Good Friends, Snake believes Ike stole Samus away from him.

It's been probably a year since this trend was popular, but I believe something similar to this will be recreated with Megaman taking Snake's place.
