I think this was based off of an actual picture of a Soviet officer. Except the officer in the original picture was a male...

HE WAS "POLITRUK" (JUNIOR POLITICAL OFFICER) ALEXEY GORDEEVICH YEREMENKO AND HE SERVED IN THE 220th RIFLE REGIMENT OF THE 4th RIFLE DIVISION, THE PICTURE WAS TAKEN NEAR THE VILLAGE OF KHOROSHEYE IN UKRAINE, AND HE REALY DIED AFTER A FEW MINUTES.
