1. Thats not Cynthia, the artist just uses Cynthia for her inserts (like when all the pokemon were looking at the next strip trying to get some parts added or fixed).
2. She was on her way back from a trip to Tokyo.
3. She lost track of time playing Pokemon Conquest.

I think she's playing Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, since she uses Berlitz/Hikari, she doesn't pay any attention to the train until her NDS runs out of batteries.
