This is probably how he actually is.

People seem to forget that he trained Ranma, and frequently defeats him (for a while) when they spar. He's got to have some muscle and skill behind him to do that.

While I do doubt he is "ripped". . .I wouldn't be at all surprised if he is solid muscle under those clothes he wears.

He IS a highly skilled martial artist, after all.
