I'm actually proud and impressed by how much Vegeta has grown as a person. Goku got it easy, being hit on the head and losing the Sayin blood lust to kill while still a baby, only keeping their love for fighting. Vegeta on the other hand not only grew up in the Sayin with that nature intact but also in their society where killing was encouraged and later raised as a slave under a tyrant, Freezia.
He learned to he can fight his nature and not be ruled by his genes and undo all that he was raised and taught with by the Sayin people, that there are other ways of life, and life doesn't have to be kill or be killed. He's even become friends with his rival, Goku.
It took a long ass time for him to go from villain to anti-villain and an even longer ass time to become an anti-hero but he did it.
