I go with Chrom and FeMU cause that makes things more dramatic as the story goes on since FeMU is of fallen blood but also the mother of Lucina who's trying to stop all the bad future shit.

I say nothing is to be canon, while this family is very heavily implied, its not of certainly, for the most part its all about our own personal preferences on who should be who who.

While it's true that the player can choose Chrom's wife (Sumia, female MU, Maribelle, Sully, Olivia, generic maiden), the game gives several hints to the SumiaXChrom pairing:

-Chrom and Sumia (for the first 13 chapters, barring sidequests) each have up to 5 different spouses -- very few when compared to the other characters

-watch the opening movie of the game (when you boot it up) -- Sumia and Chrom with baby Lucina

-the animated movie at the beginning of chapter 3 is known as "Lovebirds"

-before Say'ri joins the team, Sumia is the female playable storyline character with the second highest number of appearances (behind Lissa)

-if all of Chrom's spouses were to have equal amounts of support with one another and none of them have S-rank support with Chrom, Sumia is given FIRST priority at the end of chapter 11 confession cutscene

-compare Sumia, Chrom and Cordelia with Caeda/Sheenda, Marth and Catria/Katua

indeed, but for the best part, it needs to be left ambiguous as it only makes rage over the fanbase...

It only pisses peeps off when they force a pairing to be obvious in a game where anything is to be possible.

@1297265: I'm pretty sure the whole priority thing was debunked by now. Pretty recently too.

@1299063

Citation needed.

And certain pairings (or not pairing at all) have always been implied to be canon. (EliwoodXNinian was retconned by Nintendo to be the official canon) Its just that Nintendo rarely outright states it.

which is good yes? For a game where there are infinitive possibilities for pairings its better to keep it ambiguous. Everyone has their own preferences and its not a good idea to shove one pairing down the fans brains when they believe otherwise...

No, its not good at all. A number of Fire Emblem games are direct sequels to one another, so an ambiguous pairing can lead to contradictory endings. Sword of Flame is infamous for having endings that are flat-out non-canon.

And I'm gonna have to ask for citation needed on Eliwood X Ninian being declared canon. And this is considering the presence of non-canon pairs.
