It'll never happen in this way, you mean. I don't think Shinji would be the one taking action in a romantic situation, which is part of the reason that Asuka feels she can't admit that she's attracted to him.

Of course, if this were the manga, it'd be a different story. Or maybe this could work in "Rebuild".
