It's possible they both got artificially impregnated via the sperm bank, and their own genes were dominate over the donor's (Kiryuuin genes are probably kickass). With that line of thought, it's easy to see why they look like each other--they're technically cousins, or possibly half-sisters. Which would make one of their mothers actually their aunt, but I doubt they would tell them which came from who. Hell, they could have shuffled them around in the hospital before even naming them so they wouldn't know themselves. "Your both our daughters! Don't question it! Now get ready for Purification!"
