You see, in the most recent real-world Pokémon National Championships in the Double-Battle Cup, a skilled player managed to beat a Mega Kangaskhan in the Finals by using Pachirisu, a low-tier 'mon, thanks to a convoluted team strategy.
Therefor, the Internet now assumes that the little Pika-Squirrel is "Overpowered" despite the glaring differences between single and double-battle mechanics and play.

It's the fact that tonnes of people are jumping to the conclusion that any and all Pokémon are viable for competitive battle; that Delcatties can now be considered worthy to take on Alakazams- just because the current Champion fielded a Pachirisu on his team.
They are failing to acknowledge that it was a highly skilled player, and that he specifically trained his Pachirisu into a very specialised role.
In a Single Battle against anything competitive- the Pachirisu would've been stomped.

"They are failing to acknowledge that it was a highly skilled player"
Nobody's doing this.
"and that he specifically trained his Pachirisu into a very specialised role."
And everyone's well aware of this. The general attitude is much more "every Pokemon has a role/niche" than "every Pokemon can be used for every purpose"
"In a Single Battle against anything competitive- the Pachirisu would've been stomped."
You're trying to "correct" everyone by saying this stuff, but would you do the reverse? If a Singles tournament had an unexpected Pokemon in the champion's team, and people starting thinking of it as a great competitive pick, would you insistently remind everyone that it would be weak in Doubles? I somehow doubt it; you're evidently putting the Singles format on a pedestal as the "real" format. If there's a good basis for that line of thinking I've yet to hear it.
