True anon 2, but in this pic Samus is wearing her old zero suit with functional wedge heels. And the fact that she is standing confidently without needing Adam's permission to do so clearly indicates her pre-other m status... *sigh* I'm gonna go look for Retro studios.

Why is it ok for somebody badass like John Rambo to cry and freakout after all the shit hes been though in the first movie, but it's NOT ok when somebody really badass like Samus Aran freaks out one time because her parent's killer shows up out of no where (after she killed him twice and the planet his corpse is on blows up)
Male heroes are allowed to have moments of weakness and are considered strong for over coming them. When a female hero has a moment of weakness people start calling it sexism.
Even though in that fight Ridley ran away out of FEAR before she could kill him, because she overcame her fear when her friend got killed by Ridley and she started kicking Ridley's ass.
Samus is awesome because she has fears like any other person but is able to overcome those fears and come out on top.

Samus Aran in the Metroid series goes from multi-game lone wolf explorer/fighter/one-woman army, alien weapon/artifact hunting badass to "I'll turn off all my weapons and armor abilities and cry/panic like a child at random times just because a previously unknown and now barely seen NPC is involved this time. Oh and I'll do so for an alien creature I've killed about half a dozen times already."

Because thats the subplot of the ENTIRE RAMBO SERIES, its not just the first movie. Rambo is literally "betrayed" in every movie: (except the Rambo 4, effectively wrapping up the subplot), obviously in Rambo 1 and 2, hilarious in hindsight in Rambo 3.

The lone wolf thing doesn't mean Samus doesn't have emotion or respect for a former commanding officer which was slightly explained in fusion.

Yeah Samus has killed Ridley several times however, that whole thing was a trauma/shock thing, think about it you've killed the space dragon that killed your parents and blew up the planet his dead body was on and most of the space pirates as well effectively ensuring that he wouldn't be coming back. You should also consider the fact that Other M's script and writing were pretty, well, shit.
It takes parts of the manga as canon, and yet the one thing that really stands out in the manga is the difference between when Samus first fights Ridley and when she beats him in Super Metroid's time. The first fight has her panicking like you would expect to see somebody. That's understandable. By Super Metroid time, she's stone cold and just wrecks his face, doesn't even show a hint of fear.
Compare that to Other M, which takes place after Super, and there she is panicking again. It's not the first time Ridley has been blown to smithereens and the base he was on getting blown up. Even Zero Mission made it clear that they could bring Ridley back in some form, Space Pirate or otherwise.
I know he's supposed to be her boogie man, the thing that literally took her childhood from her and just won't stay dead, but it doesn't match the thing they're drawing their sources from.
Also her calling Adam the "Only family" she's ever had is bullshit. I guess the Chozo who rescued her from the pirate attack on her childhood home, who raised her in the ways of a warrior and who gave their blood and best technology in the galaxy so that she could fight are just chopped liver, huh?
