I'd rather he didn't. He's far too much of a clone.
Give us somebody unique and different. A magic user or an axe user or something different. Robin is a good example of how to do a hybrid of magic and sword, now lets see how they can pull off a full-on mage.

They could do what the guys with Project M did. They could give his moves some kind of fire attribute, they could make him a faster version of Marth, but not as defensive. They could also make his special attacks be a kind of fire projectile, like his Binding Blade was back in his game. But that's just me and my own thoughts, so don't mind me.

Mewtwo might be a clone of Mew, but he was never a cloned fighter. And by 'cloned, you mean he's a clone of Lucario. That is incorrect. Mewtwo's special moves in Melee are the fallowing:
Standard B: Shadow Ball
Up B: Teleport
Side B: Confusion
Down B: Disable
Whereas Lucario's moves from Brawl are the fallowing:
Standard B: Aura Sphere
Up B: Extreme Speed
Side B: Force Palm
Down B: Double Team
So in conclusion, Mewtwo was never a clone fighter.

They're arguably not clones of each if they weren't in the same game ever. It's the movesets people are focused on.
Mewtwo's Standard B: Charges up a ball projectile that hurts anyone who touches it while it's charging.
Lucario's Standard B: Charges up a ball projectile that hurts anyone who touches it while it's charging (but only if his aura is strong enough).
Mewtwo's Side B: Spins fighters while doing damage or projectiles away, but they are still the "property" of the user (unlike Mario's Cape).
Lucario's Standard B: Fires a blast of aura, grabbing fighters that are too close and doing even more damage .
Mewtwo's Up B: Quickly appears in another spot depending on the input direction.
Lucario's Up B: Quickly appears in another spot depending on the input direction.
Mewtwo's Down B: Stuns a close range fighter making eye contact, launching them if they are already stunned. Somehow a projectile.
Lucario's Down B: Moves quickly to the left or right then counterattacks. Not a projectile.
There are similarities and differences, I guess it's a matter of what you think constitutes a clone. Some say Wolf is one of Fox, others don't. Of course they could change Mewtwo completely, making all of this invalid. I don't think that will be the case, though, considering Dr. Mario was relatively the same despite the one game absence.

I wonder if they'll make a Mewtwo Amiibo?
