You wish, Rito! Or rather, Momo wishes.

I'm probably the only person who feels this way, but I liked To-Love-Ru better before it became a semi-hentai that only lacks fully visible pussy, dicks, and penetration. You can downvote me all you want, it won't change how I feel.

Yes, I read To-Love-Ru for the plot. The ACTUAL plot. When I heard the premise, I was expecting something like the Tenchi series (which, along with Ranma 1/2, was the only harem comedy series I had actually seen beforehand). I didn't get what I was expecting, and Rito's absolute wussiness was irritating, but I still kinda liked it. The characters were likable and endearing, and there were some fun storylines along the way. I read the original manga all the way through in the space of a week, and I got kind of attached to these characters.

A few months later, I find out there's a sequel manga currently in progress, and I start reading it. However, I was surprised to see a much higher volume of sexually suggestive content. Sure, the original series had no small amount of fanservice, but nothing quite on this level. And it only got worse as it went on. I watched as the characters who I had become endeared to were stripped, molested, and nearly raped on every other page. Darkness had none of the qualities that I liked about the original series, and just seemed to care about nothing but providing fap fodder. If I want something to fap to, I can come here to Gelbooru or any of the other millions of porn sites on the net, thank you very much. Soon, I just stopped reading altogether. And good thing too, because apparently, it just kept on getting worse and worse, and closer and closer to being hentai, and at this point, it now seems to pretty much actually be a hentai.

And on top of all that, Lala, my favorite character and then-waifu, got shafted big time and got turned into a background character, when she used to be the female lead. Insult to injury.

The thing you have to keep in mind, is that the original manga was forced into an early ending because Yabuki, the artist, was going through a messy divorce and his ex-wife was suing him, trying to steal the rights to the manga. Ishihara also used To-Love-Ru as a scapegoat for sexualized manga being sold to minors to help him get his restrictive censorship law passed. Darkness is Yabuki and Hasemi getting back at Yabuki's ex while also giving the middle finger to the Japanese government by slipping uncensored pussy shots into otherwise innocuous panels. Rito's cowardly herbivorous behavior is also shining a harsh light on the manga's target audience.

"giving the middle finger to the Japanese government by slipping uncensored pussy shots into otherwise innocuous panels."

The fact that their anti-establishment sticking-it-to-the-man material has gotten them fat and rich is just incidental and in no way takes away from how radical and subversive they're actually being when they make borderline pornography targeted to children.

"Rito's cowardly herbivorous behavior is also shining a harsh light on the manga's target audience."

Hahahahaha, yes, of course, Rito having the exact personality of the target audience but always falling face first into young girls' crotches is a form sharp social satire and totally not just masturbatory wish fulfillment.

Terrible terrible comment.

"And on top of all that, Lala, my favorite character and then-waifu, got shafted big time and got turned into a background character, when she used to be the female lead. Insult to injury."

Lala got shafted for two very simple reasons; She was a static character who didn't change that much over the several years of the manga. There was no reason to focus on her anymore. The second reason was that she was consistently one of the least popular heroines. Combine with the fact that Haruna was based off his ex-wife who he was quite understandably mad at her, being reduced to a bunch of almost rape and blah.

You just seem more upset that yoru favorite girl got sidelined.

You need to get some cognitive ability. Have you not noticed that everybody HATES that Rito has pussy in his face constantly and does nothing about it? It's like saying "If this is how you act you're never going to score even if you literally trip and fall on pussy."

Not that you seem to have much given that you're whining about parents abdicating their responsibility to pay attention to what their children are buying. You'd have to be completely vacant in the intelligence department to think this manga is in any way targeted at children.

Lala's got shafted because she's a static character? Momo, the new female lead, is a static character too. The only thing she has ever wanted since her introduction is Rito's cock.

And I'm not bitter JUST because Lala got sidelined. That is but one small reason among many larger complaints.

1. Darkness isn't really targeted toward children.

Terrible, terrible comment (who ever said that)

2.If you truly liked the first series for the plot, then I think you're doing yourself a disservice by quitting. I think darkness has some pretty decent character development for the new main characters and even Lala, if you compare her with how she was at the start. Also the new characters are likable as well imo.

3.You said you had many larger complaints but the only one you really stated was the extra fanservice. If that was your ONLY complaint, then I'd understand more. Some may find it to be too much. Though to be honest it's really just a step up in detail and frequency from the first series.

But other than that it's largely the same, just a shift in spotlight from Lala and Haruna to Momo, Mea and Yami.
So I really don't understand what you mean by "Darkness had none of the qualities that I liked about the original series".

The plot didn't disappear in favor of more fanservice like you are suggesting. And I, personally enjoy the story of darkness more because I find Yami interesting.

If the fanservice really is so intolerable, well it's your loss.

Simple as that.

P.S
Nobody downvotes to try to change how you feel...
