That's because some idiot made it an animated png. It'd load so much faster if it were a GIF, and the quality wouldn't nearly suffer as much as tinfoil-hats wearing PNG kids would make you believe.

Anon1 : agreed with the quality, but the speed ? Come on, it's just we're dealing with a lengthy animation, the format won't change that a bit.

Also, probably not well known, but there's a usage licence on the GIF format, the PNG format does not have that problem. Meaning if one day the owner of the GIF format itself decides to fee everyone using GIFs, he has the right to, while for PNG it's not the case (not that it does not have a licence, but the licence is not the same).

A: what's going on in the animation here?
B: how do we get the software to use animated PNGs?

Use FireFox, it has native support for APNGs.
