The whole "no children" argument falls apart in brittle crumbs. Instead of just having them by genetics, they could have just ADOPTED a child. I'm sick of seeing "BUT MAH CHILDRENS" as a pathetic and weakass argument on why they couldn't have done gay marriages. The truth is that Japan is just very behind the times when it comes to the subject of homosexuality.
Hell, look at FE:if/Fates. In that one you can marry your FLESH AND BLOOD SIBLINGS, but you still can't marry more than one person of the same gender who's completely route locked in the different games. At the very least they could have made two or three optional choices with at least one of said choices being in the characters who join you regardless of route. And guess what? In at least the gay guy's case, they ADOPT THE FUTURE CHILD ANYWAYS.

And on the topic of homosexual relations, just deal with it. There will never be more than one or two of those characters in this type of game. In a way, it's more realistic that way. There aren't that many homosexuals, so it really wouldn't make sense for every character to have a same-sex marriage option.
Finally, as a result of homosexuals making up such a small part of the population, they aren't in any way obligated to have such characters in their game. Mainly because if they refuse to buy the product, it won't have any significant financial effect.
