You see, we are not discussing whether Satsuki is strong or not. We know she is strong because she have given the proof of that through out the series. The issue is whether she has mental issues which come from her treatment by Ragyo. Yes I agree that if Ragyo DID break her she wouldn't be able to stand against her. Thing is, Ragyo CONSTANTLY tries to break her. She invades Satsuki's space like when she fondled her in her office or assaulted her in the baths. Even the fact that she had a towel around her hair and Satsuki didn't is a way to dominate Satsuki. To show that Ragyo is always step above her. And yes Satsuki did not give in to Ragyo and remained tough and strong. But that is not the issue. The issue is that this kind of life, this kind of treatment would lead to Severe mental scars. She is too strong, disciplined and stubborn to Show those scars to anyone but they ARE there. You can change how others see you, you can clad yourself in an armor of iron will but you can't change the fact that under all that armor you have deep wounds.

different other anon here...

I'd have to agree with Eldritch, and I'd also like to mention that perhaps the way she kept herself strong was keeping her mission in mind. Now that her mission is gone, she has nothing to hold on to.

Contrary to what the other Anon seems to believe, no one is infallible. Any abuse over a protracted period of time - especially from a parental figure - will do damage on some level. It doesn't matter how tough or driven you are.

I agree with the first anon. Eldritch and others make good points, but Satsuki is characterized as someone with absolutely unshakeable mental resilience and fortitude. Trying to argue that she would suffer from PTSD or any affliction thereof is trying to impose weaknesses most others have onto her. Satsuki does not obey these laws because she's an infallible character by virtue of being written that way. Sure, it's one of those "it's because he's Batman"-esque cases, but that's how Satsuki functions. Her resolve grants her natural immunity to these kinds of things.

problem with that logic about her resolve, as another said, at some point after her "mission" was over, eventually after no longer needing to steel herself for years, hiding her intentions from her mother behind half truths and false loyalty, eventually that iron clad resolve meant for war will eventually fade away into a normal mindset, and the horrors that one even as strong as her had to either endure or perform just at her mother's bidding would still take its toll, nothing is impervious to breaking, everyone who has gone through many trials and hardships like what satsuki went through would eventually need to let all those walls of iron clad resolve fall down, eventually they would need to release all that emotional baggage that they carry.

let us also not forget how satsuki acted once she found out ryuko was her sister, the sister she never got to love or grow up with, but was fully aware of. imagine what that would do to someone, imagine how much she must care for ryuko after the series would end... she finally found the sister she thought dead and nameless, the nightmares might not stem from "PTSD" but from what would have happened if ryuko had died during that battle? what if ryuko never broke free of junketsu, what if she lost the sister she finally found?

i wouldnt be surprised if thats the nightmare or something similar that she had in this.

thats just my input and opinion
