A season 3? There shouldnt have even been a second arc of the first season not because the first arc was bad but obviously because the second arc and season were TERRIBLLLEEEEE.

Season 2 was vastly superior to Season one though, and if it's faithful to the light novels the next season will be better too.

The thing about sword art online is the story just got better with each story arc with the relatively poor second story arc being the one exception, but man if you've only seen the anime you haven't seen nothing yet!
IMO Season 1 is a very weak start to very good series that just gets better.

Anon 2 is right. In the second arc of season 1, Asuna goes from an effective fighter to a useless damsel. It was very disappointing, unless you're one of those numbnuts, gamergate kinda guys.

Well she WAS locked up and didn't have access to a weapon, so you can't entirely say they degraded/demoted her, unless I'm missing something...

Season 1 was dark and was very cool. Season 2 seems just so hokey and the risk is gone. It's all "rescue the princess" crap that's been regurgitated onto us since 1950.
