Am I the only one who think that Todoriki is a shout-out to Prince Zuko from Avatar? I mean, burn scar on left eye, fire powers, abusive father with fire powers, mother issues, his ''I must become the #1.'' in the same fashion of ''I must find the Avatar and fulfill fate''?

I do, and he's not the only character, IMHO. There are plenty of characters in this series that share a resemblance (be it in looks or personality) with characters from other works.

For instance, Yaoyozoru's power gives me strong Shirou Emiya vibes. Iida is pretty much a looks-wise clone of Yukio from Ao no Exorcist, just as Kirishima's hair looks EXACTLY like the hair of Natsu from Fairy Tail but on a deeper shade or red.
