Problem: non-reencoded WebMs now include sound.

It feels a little silly to talk about sound in videos like a bug instead of a feature, but we're pretending this video format is an image format replacing GIF, so whatever.

We always left sound in the WebMs. The very second WebM uploaded was a MAD.

We aren't really treating it like an image format. We're treating it as a video format, which is why we allow uploading actual video formats such as AVI and MP4, which will be converted to WebM to ensure playability in most browsers without requiring plugins.

You really should be muting videos by default. Nobody's going to hover over every. single. image. before opening a bunch in tabs.

Sound is a completely unexpected behavior on this site - the sort of thing people associate with misbehaving ads.

The default sound settings are pretty low anyways, but perhaps webms with sound could have a different color border on their thumbnails to warn the people who are concerned?
