#1741499 I think it's because it's a reference to other countries having only Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow. As for Japan and some other countries having Green, Blue, and Yellow.

Almost, #1743588. Japan has Green, Red and Yellow. Blue was created to replace Green and was based on Red, just changing the obtainable pokemon list. Green on the other hand, not only had different sprites than Red & Blue, it has different dungeon layouts, and from what i've heard they were seriously hard...
