It is right to point out that this show was never all that good, but nor is it right to pretend that the way the first two arcs winged it made for a vastly more, if creative, than spontaneous series than the 13-year long exercise in formulaic non-commitment we have had since the Ruby and Sapphire series. It was a simpler time, and given that Pokemon has all but reached critical mass at this point, that should be appreciated now more than ever.
