TFS flip flops with character names too. Sometimes they call Tien "Tien", other times, they use his Japanese name "Tenshinhan".

"Kikohou" I believe roughly translates to something along the lines of "Ki Blast Cannon". Kind of a bland name really, so the dub decided to change it to Tri-Beam, because Tien makes a sort of triangle shape with his hands. Though, if you look closely, he's actually making a diamond shape.

He's a joke in DBZ, but I bet back in Dragonball era he'd been a challenge for Kid Goku.

Yeah TFS seems to flipflop a bit, but it's whatever to me. I personally prefer the English names, but Kikoho worked a hell of a lot better here than if he was just screaming like in the original(still badass) or saying tri-beam over and over.
