Cousins in awakening could be married. They were just called "companions".
It's not like incest is new to Fire Emblem or anything anyway. It's been is many of the best entries in the series anyway, with very little subtlety.

But even then non of the Child characters (asides from the one Robin marries) have kids in FEA, so its easier to write around.

I imagine that in the western version of Fates, they will probably change things so Kamui will just be an adopted sibling of both families or something.

That might explain why only Kamui can change into a dragon, but I think they must have a common ancestor because both Hoshido & Nohr royal families, along with Kamui, have an ability called Dragon's Vein. I think they all have dragon blood, only Kamui's is more pure because of Mikoto previous husband before she married Sumeragi.
