I wish that this Samus design could have been in a game that was actually good.

It's like anon 2 never played Fusion.
In that, at least Adam sounded like a good guy, not somebody Samus was borderline obsessed over.
And she called him "the only family she had." in Other M.
Which is horseshit because her own backstory has her raised by the Chozo as a child. So...what, are they not her family anymore? Did the race that saved her from a colony attack from space pirates as a child, raised her, literally gave her their blood so that they could live on in someone and gave her the greatest technological power suit armor as a warrior of their race and years of training to become a bounty hunter just mean nothing to her now?

Other M's writing is terrible. There's no buts about it.

Yeah. The problem with other m was not that Samus was portrayed as human or that she was given more backstory. The problem was that whoever made that game decided it was not possible to portray what was up until that point a strong and independent icon into a dependent, needy weakling (emotionally, not physically).
It was a decent game, though still the worst out of all of them, but that "story" was cringeworthy. That is what Anon2 - in my humble opinion - doesn't understand. We didn't want Samus to stay silent and mysterious forever, we wanted an interesting and well-rounded character, not a haphazardly tied bundle of cliches.

Damn, there's a part of a sentence missing... Could kick myself.
"The problem was that whoever made that game decided it was not possible to portray what was up until that point a strong and independent icon as human without turning her into a dependent, needy weakling (emotionally, not physically)."
That's what I wanted to say.
