And marriage heavily favors the female player character this time around since not only does she have many options if she wants 2 kids, she can also marry a dude without screwing another kid out of a future.
Meanwhile, the male character can pretty much only marry Flora, Crimson, Yuugiri, Anna or a female child character if he wants to recruit every child character possible.

Lucky us that child units are more a sweet bonus than an essential part here like they had been in Awakening, where they just grossly overshadowed their parents even from the get-go. Morgan and Lucina especially.
