I guess that they used waifu2x or another software to forcefully make this image bigger, because it looks a little bit weird and I haven't found other FGO card illustrations as big as this one.

BTW I'm still curious about what exactly happened to the Edelfelt sisters during the 3dr HGW. There are theories that the sisters fought to the death against each other, or that the bigger sister was killed by the Tohsakas (heck, others even mention that she was raped and kept in captivity).

Personally, I like to believe that the Tohsaka's representative defeated the bigger sister but still felt in love her (and viceversa), but that unfortunately the rest of the Edelfelts didn't approve their union and officially "killed" their child and started to hate the Tohsakas. Maybe that's the reason the magic of both families are so similar in the 5th HGW generation. Rin and Luvia may be distant relatives, unbeknownst to them. Hey, but that's just a theory...an eroge theory.

I doubt it was waifu2x (or at least by itself) considering that there would be considerably more oversharpening artifacts, which is its primary con regarding quality when I tested it on some Fate/stay night CGs a few months ago.

(this was compared to the likes of S-Spline Max @ "Downsize" which I've previously used for a higher-res compilation CG I uploaded on here)

Now I say "at least by itself" because I found that you can get the best quality by actually combining together the two upscaled results from waifu2x and S-Spline Max @ "Downsize" by importing both upscaled images on their own layer and then setting opacity to 50% to whichever layer is on top, then exporting as a single, flat, non-transparent image.

Ok, thanks for the tip. I never thought of combining waifu2x with S-Spline Max @ "Downsize".

This is not from Takeuchi. The artist of this one is Hirokazu Koyama.

this makes me wonder if maybe sakura bloomed early and if, when full-grown, Rin might rival or even equal her in bust size

^I would approve of that.

Hey Anon, Rin and Luvia ARE related - in Tobitake! Hanafuda Daisakusen (= Fate hanafuda game for PS Vita), Tokiomi mentions Edelfelts as distant relatives in Kariya team storyline. And that particular story is written by Nasu himself so nobody can call BS on this.

Meanwhile as for 3rd Grail War, details are rather lacking but it's been said that both of twin Edelfelt sisters were fall in love with Tosaka same time.

Also, Rin in this particular card 'Formal Craft', is speculated to be in state of possession of another mythical being - that's why boob size is different. Same goes for Sakura in 'Imaginary Around' card.
