Rin, Obito and Kakashi (Minato and Kushina too) have such a tragic backstory... You can hardly blame Obito for flipping his shit after that.

I imagine if anyone tried to sacrifice everything to save their friend and the girl they love and barely survived, only to see them again for the first time in years with your friend murdering her right in front you, they'd want to erase this world too.

Worse of all being this was a all along a plot from his "savior" Madara... who turned out to be manipulated himself.

We've seen plenty of time in good movies bad guys that seemed to be the final big bosses only to have a twist reveal them to be pawns for higher villains, but in the Akatsuki and its Moon'sEye plan, that twist has revealed itself so many times... Pain/Nagato, who was seen as a Rinnegan-yielding shadow at first ? Nope. Tobi/Madara/Obito ? Nope. The real Madara ? Nope. Black Zetsu teamed up with Kaguya ? Yep, ah finally...
