The Link Cable is a Device mentioned in ORAS that allows Inter-Dimensional travel that in the Delta Episode they talked about how There might be a version of their world without The big war 3000 years ago where Mega Evolution did not exist This is refering to the fact that the Original Ruby and Sapphire Gen 3 games did not have these functions and it's the writers attempt at bringing Canonicity to both Generations and establishing the Pokemon timeline as being one of Multiverse Theory within the games and that as a joke when Players would Link together to play theyre actually sending their characters into an alternate dimension where they aren't the Hero and someone else is making every single players experiance in the main story of Pokemon possible and relavant
