Well, Alain had beaten like 10 Trainers with Megaevolved Pokemon including one of the Elite 4. Losing to Ash just don't make any sense, tbh.

The whole "Hur Ash has never won a league" thing is pretty stupid because it's not like it is in game where the E4 and champion are just sitting there waiting for you to fight them. You have to be the best in the entire region to even get a shot at them in the anime. It's like if you had to actually win a national championship against all other competitive Pokemon players just to even get the right to battle the E4. Something I doubt anyone who complains about Ash could do.
