well.... the way its depicted wouldn't work irl.
secondly it really depends on a couple of factors, how much lube(and type) your using the object being inserted (ribbed, smooth, bumpy etc) and the intensity of the play(....).

all in all when done right, it /can/ be pleasurable, certainly a different experience; but there's a lot that can go wrong.
