"yaoi" is a term defined specifically by male on male porn drawn by a female for a female audience. So yes, his line of logic is correct. You can look it up if you don't believe me. Male on male porn drawn by a male for a male audience is defined as bara. And just two guys being romantic without it being sexualized is just gay.
