Protip: Not everyone has a fiber optic connection and gifs are awful anyway. Instead of uploading a 35 MB file that takes 3 years to load, why not package this as a Webm?

I agree that gifs are wasteful and if possible it would be very nice if people would upload webms instead.

It's utter laziness to not use webms, they are just as easy to make with better colour and smaller filesizes which site hosts would likely appreciate. I'd imagine as a site host it's annoying to have someone use up hundreds of megabytes with a few gifs when they could be brought down to dozens without losing anything.

They are *literally* better in appearance and size with webm. This is one of the most pathetic examples of refusing to change out there.
