Except the games, historically, outsold the Japanese releases 2 to 1 in the US alone. Give or take.
"It wouldn't sell" is a piss poor excuse and far more defeatest, imo.
Instead of going by something that was never said, that has not been confirmed by any source , and was proven false multiple times previously, we should go by what we know, which is what the Sony exec said.

Except "it wouldn't sell" is literally the main reason. DOA does not make anywhere near enough to justify distributing it overseas. What you are saying is besides the point. What it sells in America ain't enough. And again even Team Ninja find the sexiness in their games tacky.
If you honestly want to blame a group of ppl who 'Lit. Ter. Rally' have no control over what gets released or not just because of their views. Sure.. go ahead. But thats so far from the point its quite silly. The decision was on them.. get mad at them.. the ppl responsible, not SJW who merely cry their same opinion whenever. The entire controversy was a silly thing from get-go. Just another red-herring for ppl to get angry about.
All in all, believe what you will. In the end all decisions companies make boils down to money. I respect your view, but entirely disagree wholeheartedly..

It's influence.
The devs see this nonsense coming from what are considered the big gaming sites and want nothing to do with it, so they don't take any risks with them.

When producers take a moment to address these sorts of things directly, you know this isn't something small or having no effect on games. It very clearly IS having an effect. To deny it is to be willfully oblivious.
It's clear that some devs feel as though they'd just be fanning the flames should they try to fight this, so they opt out of a western release outright.
Sales "not being enough" is a still a reason to not bring it over, piss poor as it is. Note also that the lack of sales claim was -after- the initial 'fear of backlash' claims.
And funny, I never said I was mad at them either. I don't let my emotions guide me. I simply seek for the truth and what are cold, hard facts.
The truth is not always what we want it to be and not always so simple.

Sure influence can affect many things, you can't let something that small stop you from doing a thing. Influence didn't stop Capcom from releasing RE5 during its race controversy. Tamsoft still released Senran Kagura which is probably one of the lewdest games ever and it sold well and America. My point is that nothing is stopping the Devs from pushing their games. Nothing different will change if they do so, whoever wishes to buy it simply will and those who dislike it wont. There's nothing to lose here except distributing money which is massive.
