It has an interesting plot and characters plus decent action too IMHO. Mirei kicks serious ass while also having an amazing one.

Of all the 'might as well be hentai' shows, this probably has the best plot of them and if it were a hentai it probably wouldn't have the budget for it, so there's that.

Because they wanted to make a high budget series that brings them a lot of profit, and hentai titles usually get super low budgets and don't earn much due to lack of marketing.
