I was not arguing for a male version of Primarina; I was arguing against saying Pokemon that only look masculine/feminine (rather than being based on something with a definite gender) should be gender locked.

I said that there is room for the possibility of a male form simply on the basis of the design, but everyone knows it will most likely never happen. As you said, certain starters are in the same boat as Primarina, yet do not have a male/female evolution split. GameFreak is unlikely to change this any time soon, if ever.

I wonder if one day the Pokemon will get at least slight visual touches to differentiate between males and females. Since Gen 8 will be most likely on the Switch, with much bigger space and processing power at disposal, who knows.
