Even excusing Ash's very limited interests, the world of pokemon really does seem to revolve around the pokemon. There is a Pokémon Center at every town, but human hospitals. And elementary kids are encouraged to run away from home.

I remember that episode where they show the ONE only human hospital in the whole pokemon world, everything else is pokemon.

kukui slowly realise that all the knowledge the kids have is about pokemon and the kids know nothing about humans
