I'll be downvoted but I'm going to say it anyway.

It could've been really cool way to redeem Cinder.
By having her subconsciousness merged with "constructed" subconsciousness of Pyrrha Nikos (like how Revolver Ocelot did in Metal Gear Universe) and creating third, completely new persona.

This new personality wouldn't be on anyone's side but rather wandering around the world and doing her own thing.

Cinder is a way better character than Pyrrha anyway. She's a very sympathetic villain with very "heroic" motivations, she just has evil ways of carrying them out.

Pyrrha was kind of a mary sue, the most important thing about her was that she died.
