Her being crazy didn't really originate from any one place. It's just that, with the way that XY was building up an actual loving relationship between Ash and Serena, even more than they did with Ash and Misty, to just have it fall apart at the end and have him end up in another region with a bunch of cute girls hanging off of him upset a lot of people.

You don't make a huge set up like that and then let it petter out and die like they did.

I have to agree with Anon5 here. Not letting Ash end up with Serena and have him win the Kalos league was a giant middle finger to fans. Look for more yandere Serena from now on.
