That statement is a load of crap. Just because it was programmed that way does not mean its canon in any shape or form. Unless you can produce an official statement from anyone that actually worked on the game that says your pairing is canon, take your head canon and GTFO.

Why can't they push they're pairing? Because she's supposed to be married to Laurent? All they have together is fast support growth. In the dlc hot springs level they can't even talk to each other. But if she's married to the Avatar, they have a pretty deep conversation where they talk about where Lucina will leave the group (along with the other children) and wonder if they'll have to break they're relationship. And at the end, they even kiss! Actually, it was the Avatar who kissed her by surprise to which Lucina responds that she doesn't mind and actually liked it. I wouldn't call a pairing like this "shitty".

Also I don't believe that the Laurent x Lucina pairing is canon. And I'm not saying this to upset you. Shouldn't it be up to us, the player, the avatar, to decide what's canon and what's not? I mean we choose who we want to pair up on the battlefield after all. We can choose to follow these canon pairs and follow fate. Or we can break fate and pair up who we want to. Isn't that what the game is about? Breaking fate? Of course, if you believe that Laurent and Lucina are canon then it's true. However you can't just call the pairing that we believe is true shitty for no reason. At least share your opinion as to why you think that.

I hate the Robin pairing because it contradicts the code and Robin isn't even a real character, just an avatar self insert. On the other hand, Laurent is a character with a pre-defined personality instead of a player avatar. I bet most of the people getting mad are just Lucina waifufags who can't deal with someone other than Robin fucking her. There's no need to get triggered over an opinion though.
